Ima Docs Lynx Dude aka "Doc"

"Doc" is a 1996 AQHA gelding.  He's Docs Lynx/Jackie Bee bred on top and Doc Bar/King Fritz bred on the bottom.  I won his mother in a high school rodeo raffle around 1987.  She was a handful, but I learned a lot from her and when she was bred to one of Ronnie Yribarren's studs RLC Jax Tufflynx, we got Doc and my more serious reining career began.   As a 4-year old, Doc spent a year in training with Vaughn Olson, of Redlands, CA.  Vaughn did a great job with putting the reining basics on Doc.  Fortunately Doc didn't get his mother's termperament--he handled all of the stress of training in stride.

I spent the next couple of years showing him at AQHA, CRHA, and local shows working on improving both of our skills.  We took lots of lessons and went to lots of clinics.  We never really competed for year-end awards until 2004 where we competed with the Reining Horse Association of Nevada (RHAN) and won the Rookie and Novice Horse NonPro Championships.  The following year we competed with our local reining club and won the Open and NonPro Championships.

Later the following year,  I talked my girlfriend's 11-year old daughter "Tyler" into helping me with him since I was already starting my next reiner, "Slider".  Well a match was made.  They got a long so good, I talked her into showing him the remainder of that year and they pretty much won every class they rode in.  Tyler and Doc were amazing together.  Tyler was definitely a good rider.  She had been rodeoing pretty much since she could walk but this was her first time reining.  She worked hard to learn how to cue Doc, learn the patterns, and stay on pattern, then Doc did the rest.

Tyler showed Doc again in 2007 for the entire year and came away with the
RHAN 12 and under youth championship and 2nd places in the Open and Novice Horse Open divisions.

In 2008, Doc was shown by the Boxley girls, Jordan 10, Kailyn 9, & Kori 7.  Jordan showed him in the Little Britches and Youth reining classes.  Kailyn and Kori showed him in the rail classes.  On the morning of their horse show at the Tri-County Fair, Kailyn and Kori's old mare "Boogie" went lame leaving them without a horse for the day.  We pulled Doc out cold, literally threw Kori on him and straight into her walk/jog class which she won.  Kailyn then showed him in the 12 & under classes and had a great day.   Jordan went on to show him in the reining and did an awesome job (see her winnings below), especially considering this was her very first year showing reining and she'd actully only shown him a couple of times before this.
